A Winter Solstice in Sherwood
The moon sailed through the bank of clouds, a net of stars in her wake. Beneath her lay the black forest of midwinter.
Robin Hood and his men had kindled a fire, surrounded with candles and streaming torches, anchored in the earth. In the midst of the longest night of the year, there was a blaze of light in the darkness.
In the fire and shadow was Herne’s Son, with his white-gold hair and midnight eyes. He shone from within, heart and soul, but he wore a cloak of nightfall. He held in balance the Powers of Light and Darkness.
